Memphis is a Great American City! We have our issues like any other major metropolitan area, but our diversity also serves as a strength! Because of our unique geographical location, our city generally grew from the Mississippi River eastward. Currently the Mid-South is enjoying growth in all directions, and in many different ways. Our downtown is booming and approaching 20,000 full-time residents (a staggering number that was almost unthinkable just a few years ago). The Medical District and Mid-Town areas are not only stable and prosperous, but about to be hit with a surge as the Biomed Research Park begins to take shape coupled with the expansion of LeBonnheur Children's Hospital and the world famous St. Jude Children's Reaserch hospital. Activity in east Memphis along the Poplar Corridor has seen the tear down of dated ranch-style homes to be replaced by large estate homes on the huge wooded lots. The close-by suburban towns of Cordova, Germantown & Bartlett have seen steady growth over the past decade and the out-lying areas including the towns of Collierville, Lakeland, Arlington & Eads have enjoyed excelerated growth.  And don't forget the boom areas in our neighboring states! Western Arkansas and particularly northern Mississippi have exploded and will continue to grow at a rapid pace.

While some areas of the country have suffered from the bubble that artificially ran home prices through the roof in the last few years, the Mid-South has historically enjoyed a steady and healthy growth rate and subsequent housing prices. Our economy is diverse, we still have plenty of buildable land available, and that combination makes for a nice steady ride, not an up & down roller-coaster as seen in coastal areas or areas driven strictly by the economic ups & downs of a single industry.
